A large empty wall is intimidating. We sometimes hang three small frames that get lost, or nothing at all. A large abstract painting does the opposite: it gives the room its centre of gravity. The eye knows where to rest, the colour breathes, and the rest of the decor naturally falls into place around it.
It is also the format where Régine Gardan’s painting expresses itself most freely: the gestures are wide, the texture is visible, and the light catches the relief of the canvas at every hour of the day. A hand-painted artwork of this size does more than decorate, it holds the room.
A large format belongs above a sofa (choose a canvas about two thirds of the width of the seat), facing a dining table, or on the wall you see when you walk in. Hang the centre of the artwork at eye level, around 1.60 m from the floor.
As for the palette, let the room speak: a red warms up a slightly cold living room, a blue soothes a busy family room, a yellow brightens an interior that lacks sunlight. To understand what each colour says, our article on the psychology of colours is a good place to start.
Every canvas in this collection is a one of a kind piece, signed and delivered with its certificate of authenticity. If you hesitate between two artworks for your wall, write to us: we will gladly help you picture the result at home.
