A Flower As A Starting Point

On these canvases, the flower is a starting point. The title names it (Lotus, Coquelicot, Lys Orangé) and colour does the rest: a poppy becomes a flash of red, water lilies a sheet of blue. “Indeed, forms escape me more and more”, Régine Gardan told the French newspaper Le Dauphiné Libéré in February 2008.

Before abstraction, she spent five years painting portraits, landscapes and still lifes in oil. Here, what remains of the flower is what colour keeps of it.

Where To Hang A Flower Painting

Roses Rouges, a small 40 × 40 cm square, sits on a shelf or a narrow stretch of wall. Éclosion, at 73 × 91 cm, holds a living room wall on its own. Yes. Each canvas is an original oil painting, hand-painted by Régine Gardan, signed and delivered with its certificate of authenticity.
