An Award-Winning Artist, 1964 - 2018

Uluru, the Pyrenees, Antarctica, the land of the rising sun: Régine Gardan painted lands she had not always walked, but imagined in texture and colour. Each canvas in this collection is a condensed journey: the heat of a desert in a yellow, the silence of a glacier in a dark blue, the power of a volcano in a lava red.
An abstract landscape gives a room a horizon: in an office it opens the mind; in a living room it becomes a talking point. Pair mineral blacks with sandy yellows, or browse by large format for a true wall of escape. Each work is one of a kind, signed by Régine Gardan, delivered with its certificate.
Original Artwork Or Reproduction: What Really Changes
| Original artwork (oil on canvas) | Industrial reproduction | |
|---|---|---|
| Texture | Real relief of the pigments, light catches the surface differently through the day | Flat surface, identical look whatever the light |
| Uniqueness | One of a kind: a single one in the world, yours | Mass-produced, thousands of identical copies |
| Authenticity | Signed by the artist, certificate of authenticity included | No original signature, no certificate |
| Over time | Oil paint lasts for generations and can be passed on | Wears out and gets replaced like a decor item |
| What you own | The real work of an artist, with its story | A licensed printed image |
A landscape-format painting is wider than it is tall, as opposed to portrait format. On Vitamin of Colors, you will find these canvases in the Horizontal Abstract Paintings collection, and the landscapes painted by Régine Gardan, from the Himalayas to the Sahara, in this collection. The two often overlap: a landscape naturally stretches out in width.
Beauty remains in the eye of the beholder, but some landscapes have left their mark on art history: *Impression, Sunrise* by Claude Monet (1872), which gave Impressionism its name, or *The Starry Night* by Vincent van Gogh (1889). At the start of the 20th century, Wassily Kandinsky also took landscape as his starting point, as in *Landscape with Two Poplars* (1912, Art Institute of Chicago), before drifting towards abstraction. Régine Gardan's landscapes continue this shift from subject to colour.
An abstract painting makes colour, form, texture and gesture exist for their own sake, without trying to represent an object or a place faithfully. An abstract landscape nonetheless keeps a real source, a mountain, a desert, a sea, but translates it into colours rather than outlines.
Each painting is hand-painted, signed by the artist and delivered with its certificate of authenticity.
